Back From the Brink

While it is true in many instances in life that opportunities present themselves only once, necessitating immediate action so as not to be deprived of an opportunity - fortunately in the world of hair loss an affected man or women has repeated chances to impact a condition  - even as that condition further deteriorates with the passage of time.

This is great news for the many men and women that have long suffered from the ravages of hair loss and includes even the profoundly affected.  It is quite remarkable what the presence of even a modicum of hair when optimally located can do to rejuvenate one's appearance. The presence of even a small tuft of hair within the center of a once full hairline has a transforming effect that truly must be seen to be appreciated.

So take solace ye of little hair (and even less faith) and investigate the possibility of recapturing at least a modest amount of hair - you will be impressed if not amazed by the impact the feat has on your sense of well being and the perception of increased vitality that you will exude to those around you.

Low Level Light Therapy- What is it and who is a candidate for it?

Low Level Light Therapy is a technology that has just been approved by the FDA in January of 2007 as a legitimate medical therapy for hair loss.  It can be done in two different setting: 1. An in-office setting where you sit under a 107 lighted panel system for 30 minute sessions, or 2. An at-home setting where a you use a 9 light comb system for 15 minutes three times per week.

This 640nm wavelength light therapy stimulates the matrix cells of the dermal papillae (hair root) to convert biochemical resting energy (ADP) into active energy (ATP) allowing these cells to function at their maximum capacity. It is these matrix cells that form the hairs of the follicle. If the matrix cells are functioning at their highest level, they can produce a thicker, fuller hair.

Anyone with thinning hair is a candidate for this non-invasive therapy. However, you should consult with a hair restoration specialist like the physicians at Ziering Medical to get a thorough evaluation of your particular degree of thinning and the best medical and or surgical treatment options that would best suit your individual needs.

Call Ziering Medical today to learn more and schedule a FREE in-person consultation with one of hair restoration specialist physicians.

Tired of Playing the Part ?

Based in the entertainment capital of the world we at Ziering Medical treat large numbers of industry workers including the famous and infamous and the multitudes in between who labor in the support roles that form the foundation of all production.

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players", the oft quoted Shakespearean line suggests the essence of life is role playing in a scripted piece.  So perhaps we are all part of an even larger scope 'performance' of sorts.  Fortunately the director is choreographing in absentia allowing those of us who so choose to break out of our assigned roles and direct ourselves along any of life's many corridors.

So it is with a sense of admiration of late that I have come to appreciate the efforts of those that elect to resist the temptation to slide into mid-life lassitude and choose to instead strive to maintain optimal physical  function and appearance.  Their efforts reward not only themselves but improve the quality of the overall 'production'  that is the human life experience.

Hat's off to the gentleman who visited last month for the first time in his eighth decade of life and who reported he was looking forward to the next chapter in his life and who felt that, with several left to go beyond it,  that some fresh hair in his long barren pate was in order.  " I've been an old man long enough" he spoke, " I'm tired of playing that part".  I couldn't resist the attempt at a humorous double entendre by remarking that his combover was an tired effort to 'play the part'  as well.

As we looked at the schedule he selected a day for his restortation after the Holidays.  Not pressed for time this one...  I think he'll be around for a long time and will enjoy many cycles of hair growth along the way.
